SDCC 2012: Iron Man’s New Armor Unveiled

The new Iron Man armor from Marvel’s upcoming Iron Man 3 has been revealed last week at Comic-Con 2012. Now this new armor looks to be a mash up of the Mark V and Mark VI with a offset paint scheme. Now personally, I don’t mind the overall design of the armor, it has a nice look to it, sharp lines and great curves, but not sure what to think about the mainly gold paint job, I’m sure it has something to do with the plot of the movie, i.e. the possible Extremis storyline or whatnot, but let us know what you think of the new armor in the comments section!

First Photo From Iron Man 3!!!

Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios release “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated film “Iron Man 3,” directed by Shane Black, has commenced in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina; Miami, Florida; and China.

“Iron Man 3” continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/super hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.” Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Dan Mintz.

The creative production team on the film includes two-time Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll, ASC (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“The Hangover,” “Due Date”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) and Peter S. Elliot (“Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), and costume designer Louise Frogley (“Quantum of Solace,” “Contagion”).

Extremely surprising Iron Man 3 villain spotted on set!

A surprising villain appears to have turned up on the set of Iron Man 3 — and this could mean the film’s storyline is a lot more complicated than we’d already guessed.

Spoilers ahead…

Yes, it appears to be the Iron Patriot.

In the comics, the Iron Patriot is Norman Osborn’s alter ego in Avengers, but we highly doubt this character will be making an appearance in Iron Man 3 (even though that would be a fairly clever crossover). No, this is allegedly a picture of James Badge Dale (originally rumored to be playing Coldblood) one of the many rumored villains for the third Iron Man movie. So that’s the Iron Patriot, Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, and Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, the man behind the Extremis virus. How the Iron Patriot fits into this world, we have no Earthly idea. Thoughts?

James Badge Dale Joins Iron Man 3 Cast

James Badge Dale (The GreyShame) has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3, reports Variety.

The trade says: “Dale will play Eric Savin. In the Marvel comicbooks, he’s a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army put in charge of Project: Ultra. After stepping on a land mine, cybernetic surgery is performed on him and he’s resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood.”

The third installment starts filming this month in North Carolina and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall. Shane Black will direct a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce. Iron Man 3 will hit theaters on May 3, 2013.

Dale’s upcoming credits include FlightWorld War Z and The Lone Ranger.

Rebecca Hall Eyes Iron Man 3 Role

Following Jessica Chastain’s announcement yesterday that she won’t be joining the cast of Iron Man 3 comes word, viaVariety, that Rebecca Hall (The TownEverything Must Go) may take the part instead.

The role is said to be that of a scientist that is the intellectual equal of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Although it’s not confirmed, it’s possible that the part is Dr. Maya Hansen, a character responsible for the “Extremis” nanotechnology that is said to be a key part of the sequel’s focus.

Written and directed by Shane Black (and co-written by Drew Pearce), Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce and is set for release on May 3, 2013.
